Living for God: Devotions From Time of Graceનમૂનો
Your work matters
As you grow from a young believer into a more mature believer, as you learn more and more of God’s ways from the Bible, you become aware that God is sovereign over all human history. He causes the rise and fall of nations. He puts babies in our arms and calls people home. It is he who creates the very faith we need to trust in his Son and be saved.
But that doesn’t mean that your own choices and deeds are irrelevant, like a toy steering wheel on a small child’s car seat. Your work matters. Your bad choices can hurt yourself and other people.
But--your acts of love and mercy and service can change people’s lives and bring God’s light where there had only been darkness.
Can you do both things? Can you acknowledge the Lord God as the supreme Master of the universe, on top of every last detail, and at the same time believe that your words and actions are of vital importance to God’s mission?
Let Moses, God’s right-hand man, his personal agent in leading the great exodus from Egypt, encourage you: “May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us--yes, establish the work of our hands” (Psalm 90:17).
