It's Time To Pray

DAY 3 OF 6

DAY THREE: The Results of Intentional Prayer

The father and demon-possessed son had exhausted philosophies, ideas, and even religion to change the situation they were in. Then the father found hope in this extraordinary “man” from Galilee and said, “If You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us” (Mark 9:22).

Like this father, some of you are not overly filled with faith that your situation can change. You have a glimmer of hope in your heart that Jesus can fix your problem, and your prayer is exactly like this father’s:

“If You can do anything, Jesus; if You are still listening; if You are more than what people have told me You are; if You are beyond what I have seen in the people who are supposed to represent You—if You can do anything, Jesus, would You have mercy on me and save me?”

Have you cried out to God? Be intentional in your prayer—ask God to intervene in your life and in your situation. Everything Jesus did was intentional. Everything He said and everything He did fulfilled the purpose that God had laid out before the foundation of the world: the salvation of mankind.

The devil had a comfortable place in this boy’s life. The young man was in bondage to sin, his flesh, and the enemy. But through his father’s prayer and measure of faith, Jesus was called to do what no one else had been able to do—set this young man free. When the father of the child cried out to Jesus, the Lord responded to his measure of faith.

It seems too good to be true, doesn’t it? There is no formula or ritual or positive thinking; it’s simply a matter of prayer (crying out to God) and a willingness to believe that God is who He said He is.
