God's Gift of Money: Devotions from Time of Graceનમૂનો
I lost a lot of money
Money slips away bit by bit from all of us. Inflation slowly drains the buying power of our dollars. Withholding taxes silently subtracts a piece from every paycheck.
But have you ever suffered a big financial loss? Maybe it was through your own stupid weakness for gambling. Maybe it was a major illness that ate up your savings and left you with debts. Maybe a nasty divorce ruined your retirement plans. Maybe some of your major investments suffered a serious loss in value. Or someone you trusted ripped you off.
An Old Testament hero named Job knows your pain. “While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, ‘The Chaldeans formed three raiding parties and swept down on your camels and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!’” (Job 1:17). His financial losses were staggering.
What do you do when you’re in a financial hole? First, listen anew to the messages of love and commitment from your God. He doesn’t stop being your Father when you’re broke. Don’t be too proud to ask for His help, and watch for doors and windows opening. Second, don’t be too proud to ask for help from the people in your life whom God has given you. They may bring solutions.
Wait with patience. And remember that your real treasure is in heaven.
