DAY 17 OF 21

James 4:11-12 (ESV) Do not speak evil against one another, brothers.  The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law.  But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy.  But who are you to judge your neighbor?

It is very easy to fall into the bad habit of speaking against each other and judging others. No amount of justification gets us past the principles we see in the Word. There is only one Judge – and that is God. The very nature of love is to be without prejudice.

Having said that, it does not mean I can compromise on the Truth. However, our loving of each other, is a key distinctive of disciples of Jesus. Jesus said: “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35)

Reflection:

How can we love people, love the truth, yet at the same time not be judgmental towards others?

How can you be an encouragement to other believers with your words?
