DAY 54 OF 60

Day 54

MORE PROPHECIES FULFILLED

[Scheduled Reading: Acts 9-28, Romans 1-3]

I love the story of the Ethiopian Eunuch in Acts 8. (It’s part of yesterday’s read, so I’m double dipping.)

An angel sends Philip to a location where he finds the man reading from the prophet scrolls - the book of Isaiah.

Philip asks the man “Do you understand what you’re reading?”

To which the Ethiopian replies,

“Of course not!” (Jeff’s paraphrase).

Here’s what I love about the story. The man was reading the Bible even though he did not feel confident in his understanding.

That’s ME!! And you too, right?

I began my Bible reading many years ago when I did not have full confidence in my Bible knowledge. But God has taught me along the way.

I suspect you also began this 60-day journey with some insecurities of your own. But you kept reading anyway. And think of how much have you learned.

Understanding God’s Word starts with reading… period.

I’m proud of all you 60-day Bible readers!

A quick note about the book of Acts:

Paul’s journey sets the stage for the rest of the New Testament writings. After Acts, just twenty-two New Testament books remain.

Eight of them are written by Paul - another five are believed to be ascribed to him in some way.

As you read Acts, and Paul's letters, notice all the “dirty work” endured by Paul - arrests, trials, beatings, and scorn.

Sound a lot like the lives of Old Testament prophets doesn't it?
