A Note of Victory
“I will give you a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair.” Isaiah 61:3
We are not victims, so we should not act as such! We should praise God for what He has already done in our lives, and praise Him for what He is yet to do!
We have a note of victory over our circumstances when we realise that we serve a victorious God! If we spend just 5 minutes thinking about the magnitude of God, we will be in awe of His power and might. Now, imagine being seated with the almighty God in heavenly places and having him on our side in every battle. When we are facing a situation and we realise that the person on our team wins EVERY time, how would that change our countenance and attitude? We are on the winning team! Those who commit to giving God praise for who HE is, bring to remembrance God’s goodness and experience this reality for themselves. This not only shakes the enemy, but it builds a victor-mentality within us.
The power of praise:
When we realise the effect praise has on our situation, we will not stop doing it. The pattern in the bible has always been to praise as a way of lifestyle; and ahead of any battle/situation.
The Levites were set apart to offer praise and thanksgiving to God on a daily basis (1 Chronicles 23:30)
Jehoshaphat was facing war and in seeking God’s face, he began to describe the goodness and greatness of God; he remembered all that God did in the past, and declared it over his own present situation. King Jehoshaphat called on God’s goodness so much, that in an instant, God caused the other armies to turn against themselves so that the army of Judah did not have to fight! Talk about a victorious God! (2 Chronicles 20:6-24)
Paul and Silas were badly beaten and thrown into prison for using the name of Jesus. Finding themselves in what was one of the worst prison conditions, they began to sing praises to God! Their prayers and praises physically shook the foundations of the ground they were on, and opened the prison gates! (Acts 16:16-40)
PRAYER/CONFESSION: Lord I thank you that your victory on the cross, is my victory today! Because you have promised me victory, I celebrate my victory. I choose to praise you for what you have already done, what you are doing now, and what you are yet to do. I will thank you God for every victory in my life, big and small- because you live in my praises!
