A LIFE OF CONFIDENCE

He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

In these verses, the Lord takes the initiative. He makes. He leads. He restores.

The Shepherd takes an active role in my life. He watches what I go through. He knows my environment. He acts immediately.

When the sheep is surrounded by threat and smells danger and feels insecure, it cannot lie down. The Shepherd takes care of the danger around and makes the sheep comfortable and makes the sheep lie down.

When we are surrounded by danger, when there is restlessness on the inside, when we are unable to sleep, He makes us lie down in peace.

Let us hand over our difficult situations to the Lord. He is a great Shepherd. He is a loving Shepherd. He leads us besides the still waters. He is a caring Lord. He takes us to the right place where we can be comfortable and our thirst can be quenched.

He restores our soul. He revives our soul. There are times when we feel low, find it so difficult to move forward. There are things that weigh us down. We do not even have the strength to read the Bible and pray. We have a caring Shepherd who does not rebuke us but restores us. Restore means to re-store from the place we have fallen. The Shepherd takes his relationship with the sheep very seriously.

He leads us in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. His name is at stake when the sheep drifts, defies and dies. That is why the Shepherd takes extra care to meet with us. He takes the initiative to make us lie down, to lead us, to guide us and to restore us. He is a Lord of grace, of comfort, who is concerned about us. He is the Only One who takes care of our environment and knows what we need.

He is the only one who sees our unspoken word and need and comes quickly to restore us.

He is always there to lead us, to guide us and to make us calm.

What is our role as sheep? Nothing. Just to follow Him and allow Him to do what He wants to do with our lives. It is important to have the right Shepherd as we could be deceived into the wrong direction with ungodly advice.

Let us talk to the Shepherd. Let us allow Him to lead, guide and restore us. Let us co-operate with Him.

Never, never overtake the Lord. Just let Him take over your life.
