DAY 3 OF 8

Be wise. Ask God for wisdom.

Whenever something happens in life and you don’t know what the right thing to do is, will God help you?

Yes!

In the Bible, Solomon asked God for wisdom. Wisdom meant more to Solomon than money, being famous, or having lots of power. Did God give Solomon wisdom? He sure did! And we can be sure that God will give us wisdom when we ask for it, too!

If we ask for wisdom, will we get a perfect grade on all our tests in school? No! Wisdom isn’t about being smart. It’s about learning to make the choices God wants us to make. It’s about learning how to deal with difficult feelings like fear, anger, or jealousy. It’s about learning how to make the right choice even when you’re not sure what’s right.

When we need wisdom, we can pause, pray, and pick the choice we think God would have us pick! In fact, you can ask God for wisdom even when you don’t have a decision to make so it’s easier to make a wise decision when the time comes.

Talk It Over: Talk about a situation that makes you so angry, jealous, or hurt that you’re tempted to make a foolish choice like hitting, lying, or pouting. Ask God for wisdom right now on how to handle that situation better. What do you think God wants you to do next time you feel that way?
