DAY 5 OF 7

Day 5

Identity

While living in Beijing a request came in to see if we might be able to help offer some advice in orphanages in North Korea. The visit to Pyongyang was very interesting! Towards the end of the week I had some spare time and noticed a football (soccer) match going on across the road from my hotel. On investigating I found it was between two girls' teams who were around 12 years of age. Having myself played in the past, I could see that the team losing seemed to have their players all playing out of position. The small girl in goal was struggling, the tall girl on the wing was not getting the ball, the slight girl playing at the back was getting pushed over and the slow but tough girl up front didn’t have the pace. At half time, they were discouraged and were 4-0 down. I found a girl who could speak English and I gave them a team talk, reorganizing the team. Now that they were in the right positions for their physical abilities, they began to play as a team with confidence. In the end they won the match 5-4!

One of the most important revelations we can get from the Word of God is to understand who we are in Christ. Identifying with Christ will change the way we live and cause us to rise above adversity. Do you fully understand your identity in Christ?
