Here As in Heaven
The Word says that God's will is good, pleasant and perfect (Rom 12:2). When we ask for His will to be done, we need to understand and expect something to turn out differently than we imagined. Our desire must be to see His will being carried out and not to impose our will. Just as the Bible says that whatever we ask in prayer, believing, we will receive (Mt 21.22), it also says that we ask but do not receive because we ask badly, with wrong motives (James 4.3). If God did things according to all our wills, I think the world would be much worse off than it is today.
We do have to pray with faith that God will do our will, but above all, we must remember that nothing happens without Him allowing it. It may not be His will, but He allows things to happen, so that we can learn from the situation. And this has happened less often: our learning from the situations to which we are exposed. We insist on repeating the mistake and we become "disappointed in God" when things happen differently than what we want.
Note: “*Your* will be done” and not “*my* will be done”.
