Embracing Your Eternal PurposeExemple
You’ve been given a Purpose unique to you and God doesn’t waste a trial or challenge without working them together for good. If it’s something you’ve gone through, it’s something He can redeem with a Purpose—taking what was intended for your harm and using it for good. If we believe His Promise that we are “more than conquerors,” we learn we can use for good what was intended for evil. In a sense, when we put these two truths together (that God can work all together for good and that we have a Purpose) we find our Spiritual Superpower.
In the Bible, Joseph was tossed into an empty water tank (cistern) and left for dead until his brothers decided to sell him as slave labor instead. God didn’t just redeem the situation, He used the separation as the tool for change. This deep brotherly betrayal and life of abuse launched Joseph into his Purpose as an overseer in the Egyptian government, positioned to deliver an entire people from crippling famine and death, including his own family – the same brothers who betrayed him. Whatever your “cistern of betrayal and entrapment,” God has an Overarching Plan to use your past to provide for your future and use you for a greater Purpose. Everything used to try to stop you can be something God wants to use.
Ask God to show you what’s in your past or weighing down your heart or self-image that He wants to use for healing instead. Consider some of the most important events and memories that have influenced you over the years. These moments may or may not seem significant right away, but you remember them for a reason. They shaped you and how you see the world. When it comes to the things you think have held you back, how might God be able to use you in that area for how you might relate to others in their hurt, how you can help, and how you respond in a way that could define your unique gift mix, truly functioning within your God-given Gifts.
