[Life of David] How to Wage Our Own BattlesExemple
Direct Line to Headquarters
Is there a battle with no purpose? In Bible times, the most common purposes in waging war were gaining territory or imposing tribute loads on a foreign city or nation.
In the Scriptures we can see how King David fought many battles where Israel got the victory, fulfilling God’s purposes through His power. To do God’s will, David had to be connected to the Lord. That way, he would know if it was advisable to go to war or not, and they would experience God’s power in battle. For us, the first step to connect with God begins with salvation in Jesus Christ. Have you trusted Christ? Have you allowed Jesus to save you, to fight the battle for your sins, and to forgive you?
The good news is that Jesus can live inside of you, and that you can do His work, for God releases His power through you.
David’s battles revealed God’s purpose and power in such a way that all the surrounding nations recognized it. Also, the battles showed David’s focus was upon the Lord God of Israel. He recognized time and time again that victory came from the Lord, by exalting the Lord’s name or doing something to please Him. In the war against Zobah, he took the spoils of war and dedicated them to the Lord. It was as though he were saying, “Lord, I give this treasure to You. I want my focus to be on You.”
What are we focused on during a battle? For most of us, the only thing we can think about is ourselves. Why is this happening to me? How am I going to make it through this? Why didn’t this work out for me? How can I use this to my advantage? How come they are being mean to me? Me, me, me, me, me. What is our focus when we go into a battle? Are we just thinking about ourselves? Or are we asking God to show us His purpose in the battle?
Every move we make needs the Lord’s guidance, and in every victory, we need to recognize Him. The Lord wants to have a direct connection with every person on the planet. May every nation around us know how great our God is, and how they can get in touch with Him.

À propos de ce plan
Life is a constant battle. Right now, we are either in a battle, coming out of one, or about to get into one. King David had his share of battles, and God gave him the victory everywhere he went. What was his secret? Can we do the same? In this reading plan, Pastor Gregg Matte shows us through the life of King David the key principles to do just that.
