Tune My HeartExemple

One key to accurately discerning the Holy Spirit’s voice is found in the tuning fork of Phil. 4:8.
“Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.”
A tuning fork is used by musicians to tune their instruments. With every strike, it produces vibrations and tones of varying pitch. That’s the way we need to be. As we think about what is good, true, honest, pure, lovely, and a good report, our heart gets tuned to the very heart pitch of God.
According to Webster’s dictionary, we “tune” something to bring it into harmony, to adjust for precise functioning, to make it more precise, intense, or effective.
I want to be in harmony with the creator of the universe. I want Him to adjust me however He needs to so that I will function with precision, intensity, and effectiveness. Our spirits need to be constantly fine-tuned to the heart of God.
Who would drive a car month after month, year after year without a tune-up? What orchestra would tune at the beginning of the year and then never tune again that year? If we don’t tune in regularly, we will drift off the station, just like an old radio playing static.
Being human and creatures of habit, we get used to always hearing God the same way. We act as though He doesn’t change His methods and we say things like “I’m just not hearing God like I was.” But sometimes God is stretching us - He’s changing the channel.
It’s often easy to hear the Holy Spirit clearly in a worship service, but what about in the middle of a cluttered, chaotic day? That requires a heart tuned in with God regardless of circumstance.
Prayer: “God, tune our hearts to hear Your voice above all others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
À propos de ce plan

We have to be careful of what defines our heart because it is what instructs, guides, and leads us. We need to develop our ability to tune into God’s voice at all times and be able to tune out distractions that block His voice. We can tune out all voices of criticism, doubt, unbelief, and negativity every day by tuning our hearts into God and His Word.
