How to Make Wise DecisionsExemple
God Is At Work (Even If We Make Mistakes)
Proverbs 3:5–6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” We can be confident that even when we do not make the right decision, if we chose with the right desire or ambition, with our heart in the right place, then God is at work. Even if we made a mistake, His Word says that He will straighten our paths.
God is shaping, forming, making, molding, and teaching us for His glory and our good. We do not have to live paralyzed, thinking that we are incapable of making perfect decisions all the time. We cannot live our lives thinking we cannot make a move unless we know exactly what to do; that would be an awful way to live. We are allowed to make mistakes; it is what we do after we make a mistake that counts.
We must live in light of the truths given in scripture and take the principles set forth there to help us. We must seek wise counsel and guidance to help us make the best decisions we can, knowing that we can make mistakes. This can happen even when we are delighting ourselves in the Lord, and seeking to follow the desires we believe He has given us. We can make the decision fully trusting the Lord. If we get it wrong, we can know He will be at work even then for His glory and our good. In that, we can rest.
The same God who tells us that the heart is deceitfully wicked above all else is the One who has given us the freedom to make decisions while relying on Him. So do not be afraid of making mistakes, because everything we go through will work together for our good if we love the Lord.
