Prayer for Action
Devotion
Today you're going to pray for a willingness to take action on the habits you want to master. Too often, we look back at the things we didn't do with regret. "If only I had stuck to my plan. If only I did it when I had the chance. I wish I had not eaten that." So much of our health journey and even our entire life is filled with regrets. It's time to pray against this spirit of regret.
That's not how our loving Heavenly Father designed us. Just think back to your childhood days in the playground. You dreamed of becoming a princess or superhero. No one ever dreams of living a life full of regrets and disappointments. Where did it all go awry?
Somewhere along the line, we lost touch with who we are in Christ and how much He truly loves us. Or maybe we never accepted this message. When we can truly grasp the depth of His love for us, then we can begin to live in faithfulness to whatever He has called us to—no regrets. When you bring this before God in prayer, you will begin living a life without regrets. As you spend time with Him, you'll develop an understanding of your worth, your value, and your purpose in God, which will inspire you to take action.
Action
Pray for courage to take action on the habits you want to master.
Validation
"God is nudging me to keep reaching out to Him more often throughout each day. Reminders to commit my actions to Him (Prov. 16:3) and that in Him, I live and move and have my being (Acts 17:28) are posted on my computer. God wants me to be the living sacrifice He calls me to be, and He is patient and loving and kind as He continues His good work in me."
"I believe as I obey God's call to stop impulsive eating, I will enjoy confidence, joy, and peace. The pull of food will lessen, and I can enjoy freedom and my life more."
"God's plan for me is filling me with His promises of peace and His satisfaction with me as I am. God has taken my regrets from me. We are winning in this weight loss journey."
Declaration
All things work together for good. My pain will turn into laughter, my cross will be exchanged for a crown, and my mourning will be turned into dancing. I am blessed, and I am a blessing. My disappointments of the past will be turned into testimonies, in the Name of Jesus.
Supplication
"Dear Lord, I pray that I would not sit idly in the comfort of overeating and not exercising. You've shown me that the price is too high to pay. Lord, You have given me a vision for what my life will be like when I am totally surrendered to You, and I am at a healthy weight, and the costs involved if I don't. I choose a better way. Strengthen my mind and will, Lord. In Your Name, I pray. Amen!"
Reflection
1. Take a moment and reflect on the last time you experienced regret from sabotaging your health. Let God know that you choose His love, peace, and joy over your regrets. Allow Him to show you how the situation will be different the next time.
2. Take a moment right now and experience God's love. Let it fill your mind. Can you feel His pleasure? He is not mad at you.
