Prayer for Justice

1Yahweh my God, I seek refuge in You; # Ps 11:1; 31:1; 71:1
save me from all my pursuers and rescue me # Ps 31:15
2or they # Lit he will tear me like a lion,
ripping me apart with no one to rescue me. # Lit ripping, and without a rescuer # Ps 57:4; Is 5:29
3Yahweh my God, if I have done this,
if there is injustice on my hands, # 1Sm 24:11
4if I have done harm to one at peace with me # Ps 55:20
or have plundered # Or me and have spared my adversary without cause, # 1Sm 24:11; 26:18
5may an enemy pursue and overtake me;
may he trample me to the ground # Am 2:7
and leave my honor in the dust. # Jb 31:5-40Selah
6Rise up, Lord, in Your anger;
lift Yourself up against the fury of my adversaries; # Ps 3:7; 17:13

You have ordained # Or me; ordain a judgment. # Jr 15:3
7Let the assembly of peoples gather around You; # Ps 22:27

vindicate me, Lord,

The One who examines the thoughts and emotions # Lit examines hearts and kidneys
is a righteous God. # Heb 4:12

11God is a righteous judge
and a God who shows His wrath every day. # Ps 9:4; Is 11:4
12If anyone does not repent,

He has strung # Lit bent ; that is, bent the bow to string it His bow and made it ready. # Ps 37:14
13He has prepared His deadly weapons;

14See, the wicked one is pregnant with evil,
conceives trouble, and gives birth to deceit. # Jb 15:35; Is 59:4; Jms 1:15
15He dug a pit and hollowed it out
but fell into the hole he had made. # Ps 9:15; 57:6; Pr 26:27; 28:10
16His trouble comes back on his own head,
and his violence falls on the top of his head. # 1Sm 25:39; 1Kg 2:33; Est 9:25
17I will thank the Lord for His righteousness;
I will sing about the name of Yahweh the Most High. # Ps 9:2; 71:15-16
