Day 6: God's Love For the World

Read It: John 3:16-21

16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”

Meditate On It:

1. Read John chapter 3 for the context. Who was Jesus having a conversation with? Why was it so significant?

2. What did God do to exhibit His love for the world?

3. What should our response be to this truth? Why do others have difficulty accepting this truth?

Apply It:

As we listen in on this personal conversation of Jesus with Nicodemus, we see the heart of God for those who are lost in the darkness and seeking the truth. This shows us that changing the world often starts by just loving one person at a time and pointing them to the truth about Jesus. In our world today, there are so many unreached people and people groups who still don’t know about Christ and the good news. We are called to be the recipients of the gospel and also its representatives in our own spheres of influence.

1. Have I totally and wholeheartedly trusted in the good news of Jesus Christ? How can I daily live out this truth in my own life?(Take the time to repent and confess any aspect of life that may not be pleasing to the Lord. Ask and pray for a renewed heart and for assurance of salvation).

2. When was the last time I shared the gospel to a stranger or someone I know from school, work, friends, or a relative? How can I be more prepared for these God-given opportunities next time around?

3. As a citizen of the Kingdom of God and of this nation, do I fulfill my part in being filled by the Holy Spirit and being prayerful? In what way can I develop this further into a lifestyle? By faith, I will develop a lifestyle of prayer and being Spirit-filled by…

Set Simple, Measurable, Appropriate, Realistic, and Time-bound (SMART) commitments.

Example: “As a Christ-follower, I will pray and fast every Friday at noon time (join CCF’s Pray O’clock) for the Philippines, the world, my church, CCF, and my family.”

Pray It:

Lift up a prayer for the world—including other nations and governments, that we may all depend on the Lord to carry us through the current challenges in the world economy and for peace in the following conflict-ridden, war-torn, and economically-devastated countries:

  • Israel and Palestine
  • Ukraine and Russia
  • Armenia and Azerbaijan
  • Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan
  • Myanmar, the Rohingya nation
  • Sri Lanka
  • Sudan, Nigeria
  • West Philippine Sea and nations involved
  • Other countries facing turmoil

Intercede for the nations where CCF has the opportunity to minister, especially through our International Missionary Partners (IMPs), that they may be sustained and protected by God as they go about spreading the Gospel and evangelizing in hostile territories:

  • Central, East, and South Asia
  • Northeast Africa

Pray that every nation would come to know and encounter the Lord Jesus Christ through His people, sharing the truth of God’s Word and exemplifying the love of God in and through their lives.

Prayer: Experiencing God's Love

Jesus told us that there is only one clear and best way that the world will know we are truly His disciples. LOVE. Specifically, our love for one another. But how loving are we to one another – really?
