Be Known

When we get in the presence of the Holy Spirit and learn how to lean on who He says we are, we begin to hear the Lord speak to us in a new way. It’s from this place of confidence, walking in the truth of our identity rooted in Christ, that we can hear His voice and allow Him to begin to unfold His plan for our lives. He has handpicked each one of you. And when you begin to read the Bible as this beautiful love letter to you, you will begin to experience His desire to lavish His love all over you.

Psalm 34:8 says, “Taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man [and woman] who trusts in Him.”

The word ‘taste’ in this verse means to perceive mentally or physically and the word ‘see’ means to perceive or have vision.

In 1 Samuel 12:16, the scripture says, “Now then, stand still and see this great thing the Lord is about to do before your eyes.”

The word “see” in this scripture has the same meaning as the word “see” in Psalm 34:8. In both instances the Lord is inviting us to stand with Him and watch what He can do. Taste or perceive and see and experience all the plans He has for your life. Plans to prosper you, not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Isn’t it so beautiful to see how our Heavenly Father interweaves scripture for us so that as we read, we can repeatedly see His goodness? We can continuously read His promises for us and be reminded that when we stand still and put our trust in Him, that’s when we begin to see Him move in our lives. We will begin to see the overflow. That overflow is where He begins to use our voice for His calling on our lives—a calling that is meant to benefit the kingdom, not ourselves.

In John 4 we read the story of a lost woman who visits the well in the hottest part of the day when she won’t encounter anyone else at the well with her. Jesus goes in search of this woman in the middle of that hot day traveling through Samaria so He can rejoice over her salvation.

The beauty of that story is that this woman comes to the well feeling she has nothing to offer, and she leaves that very same well, leaving behind all the shame and condemnation that once bound her. In one instance Jesus comes and sweeps out all her dusty corners and reminds her that she is loved by Him. It’s from the overflow of that transformation that this woman so beautifully steps into a new role. Jesus uses her voice and gives her a position of influence in a village where she once was resigned to having none.

Jesus knew what she needed that day. He knew all she was carrying when she went to the well, but He also knew what she was capable of if she had an encounter with him. When we let the Lord lead our calling, not only will the flame of that passion stay lit longer, but we run the race with endurance, because we’re focused on quenching our thirst and satisfying our hunger with the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

How do we walk with such purpose in the calling Jesus has for each of our lives? We accept the invitation to come, experience His presence, to abide in our Heavenly Father, and when we do, He will begin to give us the blueprints for how to walk in that calling.

Jesus, I thank You that just like the woman at the well, you will go out of your way so I can encounter You. I pray that you’ll begin to show me how to walk boldly in our calling on my life. I ask that you give me the blueprints for how you want me to live out that calling. Amen.

Be Known

To understand what it truly means to be known by God, we must first learn to abide in His presence. It’s there, in His presence, we begin to see ourselves as Jesus sees us and find our identity in Him, so we can lean into His calling for our lives, using the gifts He's woven in us, in every season of our lives. Knowing Jesus gives us the confidence and boldness to walk fully in what He has called us to.
