Lesson Title: Option Z
Character Focus: Peace
Prayer Focus: State
Focus Verse: COL.3.15
Being a great parent doesn’t mean having all the answers, nor does it mean shielding our children from every twist and turn life may throw at us. On the contrary, our children are guaranteed to have conflict and turmoil. If we then lead them through life believing peace equals the absence of struggles, we are only doing them a disservice.
What our children must see us demonstrate is how we tackle the challenging moments of life and still find peace in the midst of the uncertainty. After all, God calls us to release control, not our responsibility.
We forget God may have an even better, more majestic option in mind for our children if we would only allow Him the space in our hearts to receive it; continue to be an active agent of change in both your children’s lives and your state around you.
Thought to Ponder: Peace doesn’t come from the change itself; it comes from moving in the direction you’re called to.
Make it Practical:
Find a fun way to meet a need. When you expand your volunteer focus outside of just your city, you’d be amazed at the opportunities that open up for your family. Broadening the circle, so to speak, allows you to get involved with an organization that aligns with your family’s particular interests or even just take a more creative approach to volunteering.
