Why do bad things happen to good people?
Each of us has asked this question in one form or the other. At the heart of this question is a simple truth. No matter how bad the situation may look, God is in complete control. He allows bad things to happen so that it builds us up to be the person God wants us to be. Note that He isn't a God that gloats on our sadness. No. When we grieve, He does too. He understands our pain.
All newborn babies must be taken to the hospital for vaccination to prevent diseases which are harmful to the child. But when the doctor administers the injection, the baby starts crying out of pain. The vaccination might give a mild fever but eventually it builds us up.
God is not only in control of your today, but also of your tomorrow. Instead of asking why...ask what can I learn out of this experience? Sometimes our logical reasoning might not be able to connect the dots as to why it happened. But trust in God's promise. There is purpose even in the bad things that happen to us. He is working for our good at all times. Also, God would never allow something to happen in your life that you cannot handle. So, hold on there! Cause in the good and bad, He is God, who dearly loves you and has the best in store for you.
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, help me believe that my yesterday, today and tomorrow are in your hands. I know you are the author and the finisher of my faith. So, in everything good and bad that happens to me, help me to trust your purpose in it. Amen.
