Forty Days in the Psalms

DAY 26 OF 40

The entire tone of this Psalm is one of Integrity. It emphasizes being the same person on the inside as we try to appear to be on the outside, maintaining consistency whether others are around or not. The Psalmist, identified as David, expresses his dedication to the Lord and his desire to live with integrity. He acknowledges the presence of people who constantly hound and pick on him, describing them as bloodthirsty men with evil devices and hands full of bribes. These men are driven by self-interest, but David declares that God is his Ultimate Reward.

David's life, as recounted in the books of Samuel and Kings, shows that he wasn't perfect. There were times when the most Godly thing he could do was repent. Despite his flaws, God considered David's life to be dedicated to Him, and when David repented, he was seen as a man after God's own Heart.

This Integrity is fully realized in Jesus, who always walked in the Integrity of His Heart and trusted in the Lord without wavering. Jesus' ultimate proof of Integrity and Steadfast Love was His Resurrection from the dead, demonstrating His Purity and devotion to God. His Strength came from His relationship with the Father, not from elaborate arguments against doubt. He leaned on the Father's Love and brought everything to God in prayer.

For us, walking with Jesus means receiving the Righteousness He offers through His Sacrifice on the Cross. Our right standing with God comes from this Free Gift. In our prayer life, especially in times of doubt, we should bring our concerns to God rather than constantly engaging with the world's skepticism. Psalm 26 encourages us to trust in God and seek His Vindication, just as Jesus did. We should bring our doubts and fears to God in prayer, asking Him to test our hearts and minds and to help us walk in His Faithfulness.

RESPOND IN PRAYER:

God, my faithfulness is flawed, but I’m coming to You to be strengthened and to walk in the Faithfulness of Jesus Christ. I bring my doubts to You. (Name them here.) Thank You for Your Guidance. Now, build me up so that I may walk with Integrity.
