We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to God

DAY 32 OF 365

Day 32 of 365

As we reflect on today’s readings, we’re reminded of the importance of trusting in God’s plan, especially when life takes us through unexpected and painful circumstances. In Genesis 37, we encounter Joseph, a young man favored by his father but despised by his brothers. Joseph’s brothers betray him and sell him into slavery. From a human perspective, this event looks like the end of Joseph’s dreams and potential. However, we know that God was orchestrating a much bigger plan, one that would ultimately save many lives.

In Matthew 21, we read about Jesus's triumphal entry into Jerusalem, where the crowds shout, “Hosanna!” and lay palm branches before Him. Yet, we know that just a few days later, these same people would call for His crucifixion. Despite this, Jesus knew the greater plan His Father had in mind—He was sent not just as a political liberator but as the Savior of the world, sent to redeem humanity from sin and death. His journey to the cross was part of God’s divine plan, even though it was misunderstood by those around Him.

We understand that the Holy Spirit is vital in helping us navigate these moments of uncertainty. Just as Joseph had to trust God through betrayal and hardship, we are called to lean into the Holy Spirit’s guidance when the path ahead seems dark. The Spirit leads us, comforts us, and reminds us of God’s faithfulness when we are tempted to doubt. Romans 8:14 tells us, “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” This means that the Spirit is constantly working within us, leading us according to God’s purposes, even when circumstances don’t make sense.

There will be times in your life when God’s plan seems unclear or even painful, much like Joseph’s time in slavery or Jesus's path to the cross. In these moments, remember that the Holy Spirit is your guide, your comforter, and your advocate. He is working behind the scenes, weaving together the threads of your life to accomplish God’s perfect will. Joseph’s journey from the pit to the palace was not by accident, and neither are the trials you face.

Today, I encourage you to surrender your fears, doubts, and uncertainties to the Holy Spirit. Trust that He is working in ways you cannot see, just as He was working in Joseph’s life and in Jesus's journey to the cross. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and allow Him to lead you through every valley and every victory. His plans are good, and He is faithful to fulfill His promises. Trust in the power of the Holy Spirit to direct your steps, knowing that God is working all things for your good and His glory.
