There is something so powerful about identity. When you enter into a relationship with Jesus, as this passage describes, the old things go, and everything is made new; you are a new creation. Another way to look at this could be where you were once dead inside, merely existing, Jesus brings you to life — and to live fully alive.

It can be challenging to fully embrace the newness available in a life with Jesus — some may hold on to the past tightly, based on pain or dreams or longings. But letting go of the past can free us up for new hopes, and new futures. As you let the light of Jesus into your life, the dark places where you used to hide now become exposed and liberate you from shame or guilt. You can emerge fully alive, flaws and all, living with Christ.

Authenticity is a powerful virtue. It might look like opening up the lowest parts of your soul to God. He already knows us and sees us entirely as we are. Getting on the same page and surrendering to Him is a profound posture to have in life. Vulnerable, trusting, and open to Him. Even when you feel your weakness, or don’t have all the answers, you can approach God from a different place. He has made you new. Are you ready to step into it?

PRAYER

Jesus, thank You for making me new! For taking my past and transforming me. Where I’ve wanted to go, You’ve had better in store for me. I open up my heart, mind, and soul to You. Help me to release my past, and step into a bold new future with You. Thank You for the strength to choose. With it, I choose a life with You. Amen. –Aaron Weits
