What to Pray for Your Children

DAY 1 OF 16

What to pray for your children

Do’s and don’ts (1)

1. Regularly bless your children. Use the prayer in 1 Chronicles 4:10 - And Jabez called out to the God of Israel, “If only You would bless me and enlarge my territory! May Your hand be with me and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted the request of Jabez. You can also use Numbers 6:23-27 - Then the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons: This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: ‘May the LORD bless you and keep you; may the LORD cause His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; may the LORD lift up His countenance toward you and give you peace.’ So they shall put My name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.” You can pray it for them or use it as a blessing when you do Bible study together.

2. Pray that they will understand God’s purpose for them and why He created them.

3. Pray for your children according to God’s promises, not according to what is wrong in their lives or according to your expectations for their lives. God has committed Himself to honouring His promises.

4. Do not come to God and accuse your children before Him. Come to the Father with hearts that burn with love, compassion and care for your children - you will discover that God is feeling the same way about them. Bring your prayer requests with boldness and faith before God. He cares for your children.

About this Plan

What to Pray for Your Children

Parents want to pray for their children but may not always know how and for what. They might pray with wrong attitudes, hindering prayers and leading to disappointment and unbelief. This Reading Plan provides guidelines and Scripture on how to pray.
