John Chapter 19
Title: It Is Finished
Scripture: John 19:30
When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Thought:
John 19 recounts the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, an event that stands at the heart of the Christian faith. In this chapter, we witness Jesus's suffering, death, and burial. One of the most powerful moments is when Jesus declares, “It is finished,” signifying the completion of His mission to atone for humanity's sins. This statement marks the fulfilment of God’s redemptive plan and the ultimate sacrifice of love.
Jesus’ declaration, “It is finished,” signifies not just the end of His suffering but the accomplishment of God’s plan of salvation. The barrier between God and humanity is removed, and the path to eternal life is opened for all who believe. There is nothing more we must do except believe to receive forgiveness of sin and restoration to the Father.
Application:
Reflect on the significance of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. Consider areas in your life where you need to acknowledge the finished work of Christ and live in the freedom and grace He has provided. Let the truth of “It is finished” bring peace and assurance in your relationship with God.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Jesus's incredible sacrifice on the cross. Help us live in the freedom and grace your finished work provides. May we always remember the depth of your love and the completeness of your salvation. Amen.

About this Plan
At the beginning of Genesis 1, God spoke the word, “Let there be light,” and it overcame darkness. In Jesus, God sent the Word, Jesus, and He overcame the darkness helping us see God’s good plan for our lives. By reading one chapter from John’s gospel each day, with the accompanying devotion, you’ll see God’s nature in Jesus, God’s work through Jesus, and God’s plan for all to know Jesus.
