Follow Him With Your Whole Mind

Some of the most predominant illnesses of today are linked to our minds. Mental health is under a huge attack today and so it is obvious that our minds need to be renewed periodically in order to reset our thoughts and thinking patterns. A mind that is tuned to following Christ needs to be one that is open to being changed by Him. We have heard of mind blocks, where we have certain set opinions and ideas of certain people, cultures and situations. For followers of Jesus, mind blocks can be very destructive to living a life of love and unity. It’s therefore, necessary to allow God to renew our thoughts on people and situations in order to live with a Godly perspective. Following Christ will need us to have the mind of Christ which is one that is progressively being transformed by the Holy Spirit. Our mind drives the passions of our hearts and emotions so much of the time. An overhaul of the mind is therefore necessary so that old, unnecessary and harmful thoughtful patterns are replaced.

Another problem we face as followers of Jesus is that our minds cough up logic that sounds sensible and even safe but tends to limit God. Our lack of finances, resources, expertise, networks, health etc., become our focus over choosing to believe that God will do what only He can. The renewing of our mind requires that we give way not to fear but to faith!

The agent of renewal and restoration is the Holy Spirit. He works in our lives through every situation that life throws at us in order to shape our thought life.
