DAY 3 OF 10

Knowing You Are Loved”

Words can be so painful can’t they? They can go to the root of who we are, inhibiting our growth and stunting our emotional well-being. One elderly lady once came to me after an event I was speaking at. She told me, with floods of tears, that her father had never told her he loved her. She had lived with the pain of those unsaid words for 80 years.

I don’t know what your mom said, or didn’t say, or what your dad did or didn’t do. But I know what your Heavenly Father says about you. He couldn’t be more smitten with you right now! He loves who you are and what you are. He loves how you have tried to trust Him even on dark days. He holds His hands out to you now and says, “Let me love you! Let me provide all you need.”

Do you know this beautiful verse in the Bible? It’s from Zephaniah 3:17 and it says this about you: “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

Do you know He is with you? Do you know that He can save you? Do you know He takes great delight in you and that He sings over you? You don’t need to worry what anyone else thinks of you when you remember this mighty and healing truth.

I am learning (still) that what God says about me and to me, is FAR more important than what others say. He sees through any pretense. He knows what battles we face and what storms rage in our hearts and He loves us in them. So what should our response be? Psalm 16:8 holds a wonderful answer:

“I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.”

It is important to ask God what He thinks about us FIRST. This is the way to stay rooted and secure. His opinion of us is what truly matters.

Prayer: Father, please keep reminding me of your truth about my life. Help me dig deep into Scripture that fills me with security and joy. Amen.

About this Plan

In Security – Ems Hancock

'Insecurity is based on doubt. It asks deep questions like “Do I matter? Am I important? Am I loved?” It also asks shallower questions like, “Does this suit me? Can I get away with this haircut?” Whoever you are and whatever you do, you will have times when you feel insecure. This plan offers simple practical ways to apply biblical truth when insecurity strikes.
