Arise in the Dawn - Living the Lord's PrayerSample
HE LEADS WITH MERCY
WORD
When Lot still hesitated, the angels seized his hand and the hands of his wife and two daughters and rushed them to safety outside the city, for the Lord was merciful. - Genesis 19:16
THOUGHT
What parent or grandparent does not have a few stories to tell about how they rescued their child or grandchild from a dangerous situation? I remember our family often visiting my uncle’s farm in Indiana. Those visits almost always included a long walk with my dad exploring the countryside.
During one walk, I remember my dad suddenly grabbed my shoulder and shouted, “Snake!” I hesitated, and he pulled me back to safety. Though he later identified the snake as nonpoisonous, his first response was to move me from what he perceived as potential harm.
We have no idea the number of interventions that have been supplied by our Father in Heaven on our behalf. He loves us, watches over our paths, provides for us, and protects us. The Lord is our ever-present, vigilant Good Shepherd, a true source of safety. He leads us with his faithful mercy.
PRAYER
Thank you, Lord, for leading me by your skillful and merciful hand. Thank you for being my shepherd, my guide through every moment in this life and beyond. Amen.
But rescue us from the evil one.
