Arise in the Dawn - Living the Lord's PrayerSample
LIGHT UP THE DARKNESS
WORD
You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. - Psalm 18:28
THOUGHT
One night, a storm in our area caused a power outage and a dark evening became even darker with no source of light. I got out of bed, made my way through the house, and wondered if I’d left shoes or my backpack out in the floor, causing a potential tripping hazard. Another bolt of lightning flashed, providing just enough light to reveal the contents of the room and put my concerns at ease. I could walk forward with no obstacles in my path.
There are many obstacles before us in this world. Attempting to move forward in our own strength and solely by our own wisdom will cause us to fumble in the dark. God is our source of light; he is not just a momentary flash of lightning. He is a consistent light that illuminates the darkness and causes us to steer away from danger.
Is there an area in your life that needs to be lit up by light of Christ? He is a faithful lamp unto our feet and light unto our path. Submit this area of your life to him and see him work within it.
PRAYER
In a world of darkness, Lord, you provide light. You reveal things as they are so that we might see the things in our path that cause us to stumble. You reveal them, ensure safe passage around them, or allow us to wait until you remove them. When you light up the darkness, darkness is no longer a threat to me. I seek and embrace your light, for you are the light of the world. Amen.
Don’t let us yield to temptation.
