Impact and Influence

DAY 15 OF 21

Don't Curse Your Difference

Have you ever heard of the Bible character, Ehud? More than likely, you haven’t. Though barely known and rarely discussed, he was a person of great significance. In a nutshell, Ehud was one of the kings of Israel. Not just any king, but a left-handed King.

The significance of him being left-handed is that it gave him the leverage to accomplish a task that marked his tenure as judge in a major way: killing Eglon, a Moabite King, who had the nation of Israel in a state of oppression.

When Ehud arrived, he was searched for weapons by guards who were completely unaware that he wasn’t right-handed. They used their normal search method for someone who was not normal. Since he was left-handed, his sword was secretly tucked on his right side. Shortly after being in the king’s chambers, Ehud drew his sword and lodged it inside of Eglon’s belly, bringing him to his demise and the nation of Israel to their freedom.

Some historians deem Ehud’s tactic deceptive and cunning, while others believe that the entire reason God gave Ehud the position as Judge was so that he could use his uniqueness to make an impact that would shift the trajectory of a nation for generations to come.

You, too, are Ehud in some way or another. There is something so unique about you that is getting ready to position you to make a historic impact. Don’t curse what makes you different. Your difference is about to make a life-changing, world-changing difference.

Prayer: Dear God, my prayer today is simple: Use what makes me different to make a difference. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
