Disaster: When Life Falls ApartSample
The Fire
The fire that started as a spark has now turned into a raging inferno in your life.
Your world seems to be burning to the ground; all you can do is watch it. The flames are so close your eyebrows are being singed off, and you are choking on the smoke. How will you survive this?
God used fire in countless ways in the Bible. He got Moses’ attention with a burning bush. He convinced an unbelieving king he was God when three men became four in a fiery furnace. John the Baptist prophesied that Jesus was coming to baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire.
He still uses fire for our benefit today, though it may not feel like it when we are in the middle of it.
When you are in the fire, cry out to the God who sees you. Your faith may be tested, and your soul may feel incinerated, but God says that your genuine faith is more precious than gold. (1 Peter 1:7)
Hang onto the promises of God in the fire. He sees you, and he is with you in the fire. He may allow unnecessary things to be burned off of you and your life. Though this is a painful process, new growth will come from it.
Fire burns, melts, and scorches, but when we call on God in the middle of our fire, he will make sure that we are not consumed or destroyed.
Give God all your hurt and singed places. He will protect you, guide you, and heal you.
Even as the fire rages.
Prayer: God, this fire feels too hot! I can’t take much more. Won’t you rescue me? Please save me from being consumed; don’t let the enemy char my life. Burn off the people, habits, and character traits that don’t get me to where you want to take me next. I trust you; I know you will be gentle with me. Thank you for helping me through this fire, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
