Through the Bible: John

DAY 10 OF 10

Risen King, Rising Kingdom

Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.
John 20:30-31 (ESV)
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.
John 20:21-22 (ESV)

The Gospel of John was perhaps written 60 years after Jesus’ resurrection. As the youngest disciple who clung to hear Jesus’ very heartbeat, having walked with Him in person and in spirit, receiving visions and revelations throughout his lifetime, Apostle John makes it crystal clear in his writing that God is Love and sent His Son to dwell among us.

The epilogue of Jesus’ glorious resurrection ushered in the Kingdom of God. The stone was rolled not for Christ to come out but for disciples to behold the empty tomb, where the Glory of God descended between the two angels. Mary Magdalene’s sorrow turned into joy in the garden when the risen Lord called her name. The disciples had locked the door, but Jesus walked in, spoke peace, commissioned, and empowered the disciples. He then called Thomas, who responded, “My Lord and my God !” (Jn 20:28). It is the good news. The Kingdom of Joy, Peace, and Love has come.

Prayer

Thank You, Jesus, that You came to live with us so that we may believe. Even after YOur resurrection, You returned and reaffirmed the disciples, still so personal and down to earth. Lord, we know that Your second coming is happening soon. Save more souls, many, many more! In Jesus’ glorious name.

Day 9

About this Plan

Through the Bible: John

As “the disciple whom Jesus loved,” the author was undoubtedly an eyewitness to Jesus’ ministry from the beginning. The book emphasises both the deity and humanity of Jesus, known as Logos, and “was made flesh” to come into the world to save mankind from sin. Reading this book will increase our faith, and by believing Jesus as the Son of God, we may have life in his name.
