Through the Bible: JohnSample
The Perfect Sacrifice
I myself did not know him, but he who sent me to baptise with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptises with the Holy Spirit.’ And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.
John 1:33-34, (ESV)
John the Baptist was sent ahead of Jesus to prepare for His coming. He didn’t know who the Messiah would be, but he was told that he would see the Holy Spirit descending like a dove when he met the One. The One who will baptise people with the Holy Spirit and is the Son of God. John saw that happen when he baptised Jesus. John also told his disciples, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” Jesus is the One God gave us to be the Perfect Sacrifice for our sins.
As Christians, we are born-again children of our Almighty God through the sacrifice of Jesus. To be a faithful witness, we have to let pre-believers know that Jesus is the eternal Son of God in human flesh. He is the Lamb of God who atoned for the sins of all those who believe in Him.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for giving Your only son to us as our perfect sacrifice. May we fix our eyes on Jesus and meditate on His words every day. May we let all pre-believers know that He is the eternal Son of God, the Lamb of God who died for us to wash away all our sins. We pray all these in Your mighty name, Amen!
About this Plan
As “the disciple whom Jesus loved,” the author was undoubtedly an eyewitness to Jesus’ ministry from the beginning. The book emphasises both the deity and humanity of Jesus, known as Logos, and “was made flesh” to come into the world to save mankind from sin. Reading this book will increase our faith, and by believing Jesus as the Son of God, we may have life in his name.
