Crisis ConvertedSample
Theme: Surrender
Crisis Converted Then:
Babylon put their trust in their own wicked deeds and thought that no one would judge their actions. They spoke of themselves as if they were divine and above any trouble. They were wrong.
God challenges them to summon their most powerful magicians to avoid danger and ward off harm. But, nothing will stop the rampage of the Persians - not a spell, not a payoff - but only a complete surrender.
Crisis Converted Now:
Self-reliance does funny things to our psyches. We begin to believe that we are above it all. We lounge in our supposed security. We trust our own skill and almost tempt the fates to dethrone us. We believe we’re unstoppable.
But a bitter dose of reality is quick to topple us. Financial ruin is one recession away; medical disaster is one test away; personal subjugation can happen over a phone call. Though we muster our own magic to avoid this disaster at all costs, it’s only our complete surrender to the Savior of Israel that will stop the rampage.

About this Plan
This study from Isaiah 40-55 explores our identity as people affected by trauma but living in hope. In the exile, God’s nation had to find new life when their old life had been completely overturned and destroyed. Similarly, we now find ourselves trying to “return to normal” in the aftermath of a global pandemic. Yet, God can take any crisis and convert it for his glory and our growth.
