Crisis ConvertedSample
Theme: Accountability
Crisis Converted Then:
God will decimate Babylon. They lifted themselves up as the Queen of the World, but their arrogance and merciless attitude toward others will be rectified in God’s justice.
While Yahweh utilized the superpower nation to correct his wayward people (according to their covenant agreement), Babylon overstepped their role. Now, they will suffer the shame that they have so quickly doled out. God brings punishment and justice both to his people and to all peoples.
Crisis Converted Now:
It’s an easy, downhill stroll into arrogance. With some success and applause, there is a strong wind at our backs. Along the way, we remind people of their lowliness compared to us. We scoff and shame others. Before we realize it, we are running headlong to our own fall.
It would do us all well to sit in silence and reflect on what might happen. We should all consider these things and evaluate how we are treating others. Every ability we have, God has given us. He will hold us accountable for how we use it. Even a superpower nation can be blown off the map when their arrogance races on a downward path.

About this Plan
This study from Isaiah 40-55 explores our identity as people affected by trauma but living in hope. In the exile, God’s nation had to find new life when their old life had been completely overturned and destroyed. Similarly, we now find ourselves trying to “return to normal” in the aftermath of a global pandemic. Yet, God can take any crisis and convert it for his glory and our growth.
