Forty Days Without Fear

DAY 36 OF 40

MOSES & THE FEAR OF GOD

Moses is one of the biggest heroes of the Bible. He was a man of great faith, a leader of leaders, and a man of miracles. Yet, no matter how good a leader Moses turned out to be, his story didn’t start there.

An example of this is found in today’s Scripture! God appeared to Moses in a burning bush and asked him to go to Pharaoh to release God’s people from captivity, so they could worship God.

In response to God’s calling, Moses disqualified himself, saying, ‘I’m not good with words, send someone else!’ Moses focussed on his lack of talent and his inadequacy. When God persisted, Moses’ fear of God caused him to rise to the call, opening up the way for God to show him what they could do together!

When God calls us to do things that we feel unqualified to do, we will often try to excuse ourselves. The challenge is to look at everything from God’s perspective, rather than from only a human point of view.

God will always work through people to achieve His purposes, yet we can too easily disqualify ourselves from God’s purposes for our lives. Moses proves we can do all things when God is giving us power, strength and wisdom!

Action: Have we excused ourselves from God’s purposes in our lives? It’s never too late to commit ourselves to doing what He has called us to do, trusting Him to supply all we need to get the job done. Consider this question in prayer and let God speak to us about it. Act on His words without excuse!
