Hello Baby, I Love You! Abc's for Young Moms

DAY 15 OF 27

N

is for Nighttime

What can you do when you are awakened in the middle of the night and can't fall back asleep? Fatigue can exacerbate depression and anxiety. Postpartum depression or the ‘baby blues’ is common after childbirth, up to 70-80 percent of women experience some form or another. Lack of sleep can make it worse.

If you are up in the middle of the night and feel alone, depressed, or anxious know that you are not alone. It is best to not fight sleeplessness. Picking up your Bible and finding a cozy spot, with a cup of herbal tea can administer just the right amount of comfort needed. Bring those thoughts that are swirling in your head to the Lord. Jot down your fears, sorrows, concerns, and the to-do list that seems to be growing every moment you are awake! Quiet yourself, breathe slowly, and calmly. You can also listen to your Bible App!

Lay everything at the Lord's feet. Put all of your cares into His hands. Quietly pray until you are drowsy. Then when you are ready, go back into bed.

Here is a simple prayer with a few verses of Psalm 23 you could pray, "Lord, you are my Shepherd, I shall not want, you make me lie down in green pastures, you restore my soul. As I journey through the valley of the shadow of death, despair, or sleeplessness I will fear no evil, for you are with me, your love, your presence, and your power will comfort me."

READ the SCRIPTURE

May God give you encouragement, wisdom, and understanding.

RESPOND in WORSHIP

Worship the Lord with your heart, soul, mind, and with your life. Record your thoughts, observations, and prayers in your journal or on your Notes app on your phone.

Take the Truth to Heart: Choose one Scripture that the Lord is using to renew your mind and transform your heart today.

Ask yourself, what is God revealing to me through this Scripture?

Bring the Truth to Life: Think of ways you can practically apply this Scripture.
