Yesterday ended with a sad note. Jesus, the gentle healer, was brutally killed. The perfect one was dead. 

Jesus’ followers were left alone, afraid. Would He come back like He said? Maybe it was all fake. Maybe it wouldn’t happen. Maybe they had been fooled.

Easter Sunday came! Jesus isn’t dead anymore! He’s alive forever! He paid the price for sin once and for all. All we have to do is believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, and accept His free gift of grace for our sins. God had worked out His plan from the beginning: He made a way for us to come back to Him! 

It’s all amazing. Jesus’ followers went from being huddled together in fear and with broken hearts to being amazed and overjoyed to see that everything they had believed about Jesus was true. They gave the rest of their lives to spread the good news that Jesus conquered death once and for all of us! 

They risked being thrown in prison to keep spreading this news. In fact, most of them were killed because they just wouldn’t stop telling everyone everywhere about Jesus. Leaders of the day tried to silence this story out of jealousy and fear that people would riot or follow Jesus instead of them. Still, the story of God’s love and miraculous reconnection to mankind spread. It spread some more. It wouldn’t go away! It found its way to you, reading this Bible Plan! God’s love story to the world will not be stopped! 

Jesus’ followers were filled with fear and sadness on the Friday and Saturday after Jesus died. But Easter Sunday changed everything! It changed everything for all humans for all time! He is risen! 

Ask yourself: Jesus’ followers were mostly ordinary people: fishermen, farmers, and the like. What do you think made them bold enough to be able to preach the good news of Jesus’ grace to everyone? 

Pray: God, thank You for the gift of eternal life with You through the grace of Jesus! It’s the best news ever. Help me to remember that You are always just a prayer away. I don’t have to be perfect to be close to You. The grace of Jesus covers me. Thank You! In Jesus’ name, amen.
