When we ask for God’s help we are acknowledging that our own resources, wisdom, and strength are not enough for the difficult situations we face. We move from independence to God-reliance. Paul even suggests that one reason for the hardships he faced was just such a shift: ‘...But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God...’.

Whether confronted with difficult life events or extended periods of pressure, resilience helps us to emerge stronger, wiser, and with a deeper faith. Yet such resilience is not automatic – it involves behaviours, thoughts, and actions that are learned and practised over time. This 40-day prayer journey helps us develop practices to grow that resilience.
