Take A Mission Trip To Your Workplace

DAY 6 OF 10

MISSION TRIP:  DAY TWO

How did Day One of your MISSION TRIP go?

Did you find the opportunity? Were you able to follow through?

We pray that God led you to your opportunity – your good works – and that your effort to reach out to someone was accepted.

If your effort was rejected or you never found the opportunity, don’t despair. Even a baby’s first attempt to walk ends in failure – but they all succeed eventually.

God has a plan for you. He placed you at your work for a specific reason. It is your calling, and you are the one He has chosen to be Christ’s ambassador, right there at your workplace.  Check 2 Corinthians 5:20 on this.

However, the enemy wants you to feel failure. He wants you to quit. To stop the building of God’s Kingdom. To stop this MISSION TRIP.  Just like it says in Ephesians 6:10 and 1 Peter 5:8-9.

If not yesterday, then perhaps today or else tomorrow, God will lead you to be successful.

As much as we want to put the idea of a MISSION TRIP to our work on a schedule – let’s do this and do that within a set 5-day period – God’s timing is … well, it’s God’s timing, not ours.

So don’t stress about the schedule!

If it takes 2 or more days to complete any one of the “days” on our MISSION TRIP, then just go with the flow and spend whatever time you need on the current day before moving on.

The important part of this MISSION TRIP is that we are making ourselves available, that we are learning, that we are “leaning in” to what God has for us and our co-workers.

In this MISSION TRIP – and indeed in all of life as a Christian – you are responsible to follow God’s prompting with action. You are not responsible for the result!

Did you get that? We are blessed because of our obedience – not any results! Check Psalm 128:1.

Knowing this and having opened the door already – even if only ever so slightly – continue forward to reach out to the person(s) that God has brought along your way.

And today, reach out with recognition.

Compliment them on something they did, or some skill that they have. Find some way to show respect and honor, to make that person feel special. Or, maybe just thank them for something they did or for some way that they helped you or someone else.

To show your appreciation, offer to share something with that person – a coffee, a snack or some small token of appreciation, or even lunch out – whatever might be appropriate at your workplace.

The main idea today is just to recognize that person – to let them know that they are appreciated and respected.

When you do this, try to be as natural as possible – don’t go over the top or do it in a way that leaves them wondering that there might be something wrong with you!

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank you for making you plan of salvation in Jesus known to me. I pray now that my recognition of others may open the door for your plan of salvation to also become known to them one day.  For your glory, I pray. Amen

QUESTIONS & ACTIONS

How did you feel the last time someone appreciated you at your work? Remember that even a short word of appreciation can make a huge difference to those you meet today.

Keep praying, and be open in case of any changes that God may lay on your heart as you go through this week.
