Worthy of all praise
We often think of worship as a musical activity, don’t we? But praising God goes so much farther than singing. In fact, the Psalms regularly tell us that all of nature praises God. Trees, rocks, the duck-billed platypus…all these things are physically incapable of shredding guitar or singing, and yet they praise God as well. That’s because any time we declare the power and goodness of God, any time we reflect it or make it so others can see it, any time we honor God through our words or actions…in all of those moments we are praising the Lord. With that in mind, I want you to recognize that whenever you pray, or sing, or tell God how great He is, you are not doing that alone. You are now joining in a massive chorus that includes all of creation as you worship God. So, when you are praising Him, there are trees, rocks, mountains, and giraffes all praising Him at the same time. Let that sink in and make your brain explode for a minute. So today, as you pray and worship, think about the entire creation that is praising God right along with you, and let it remind you of just how big and awesome God is that He deserves the praise of every living thing.
About this Plan
The book of Psalms is a collection of songs and poems written to God. It is basically the worship music of ancient Israel. And while music is a powerful method of worshiping God, it is merely one of many ways we can bring Him praise. This seven-day plan will take us through two Psalms per day that reveal a different aspect of God and ways to praise Him for that.
