Powerhouse 30 Day Devotional

DAY 20 OF 30

In the Valley

Life is filled with many challenges – and one that everyone faces, whether they talk about it or not, is the valley. The times where you don’t think you’ll see another day, when you’re lonely, hurt, discouraged, and beginning to believe that you won’t be able to complete God’s calling for your life, and will ultimately become a failure.

Joseph, in the Bible, was quite literally in the valley. He was thrown in a pit, sold for 20 shekels, and told that his life was up. But just as God does, He redeemed Joseph. In his dire situation and when he thought that everything had gone against him, he was looked at with favour, he was entrusted with much, and God showed him true kindness and compassion way beyond anything he could’ve imagined. Although Joseph’s life wasn’t easy, he gave everything he had to God and trusted that He had the best for him. Don’t we believe that God has the best for us even in these valleys?

Sometimes in our valley, we run from God so that we can ‘get ourselves sorted’ first. Other times, we cling to God, and rightfully so. Some of my hardest valleys in life have also been highlights of my life, where I’ve seen transformation and change in me beyond what I otherwise thought would’ve been possible. For me, these valleys are hard and discouraging, but they also give real opportunity to learn, grow and prosper – and what a privilege that is! So, do you cling to God always, even when we’re not in the valley, or do we have to wait for the hard valleys to hit?

Prayer: God, we pray that You would be our comfort in our valley seasons, but more than that, that You would exhort us to become more Christ like everyday. We pray that in our valley seasons that You would help us to keep our eyes on You, and that we would continually seek You in whatever season we are in. Amen.

About this Plan

Powerhouse 30 Day Devotional

How do we live for Christ? That's a big question, and ultimately we can't figure that one out by ourselves. In order to do so, we have to seek God, live by His Spirit and get to know Him more.  Join with us over these next 30 days as we journey together and learn how to live a life more Christ centred and ways we can become more in love with Jesus.
