HOW TO BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

If you have no other takeaway from these seven days we’ve spent considering the filling of the Holy Spirit, I implore you to keep these four guidelines in mind. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is simple, but it is a foundational element of the Christian life that may Christ-followers miss. Take the time, bow your heart, and invite a sacred exchange with Almighty God today.

1. Recognize your need to be filled.

In humility simply admit to God that you aren’t filled with His Spirit, and agree with Him that you need to be.

2. Confess all known sin.

Ask the Lord to bring to mind any sins to confess and forsake, as well as anything in your life that may have grieved or quenched His Spirit. When the Holy Spirit reveals something, don’t excuse or refuse it. Confess it humbly and freely to Him.

3. Yield yourself completely to God’s purposes.

The Holy Spirit indwells you; let Him have you. “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20).

4. Ask God to fill you. 

Apply Jesus’ words in Luke 11:11–13 to your own life. Ask the Spirit of God to fill you, and believe that He is doing it!

This is just the beginning of your greatest adventure, loved one. When you walk with God, filled by His Holy Spirit, by faith you can believe that your best days are ahead.
