Honor God by Taking Care of His Temple When we think about the meaning of being saved by Jesus Christ, our thoughts go first to the sweet forgiveness of our sins, the guarantee of resurrection, and the joy of knowing that our verdict in God’s court is predetermined to be “Not Guilty.” We think of the endless joy of heaven. God saved you also for right now. Your earthly life is not just a meaningless stretch where you kill time waiting for judgment day. He saved you to help him save others right now. He blesses you to be a blessing to others right now. As King David said, “What gain is there in my destruction, in my going down into the pit? Will the dust praise you?” (Psalm 30:9). Your body is not just a shabby taxi to schlep your immortal soul around. It is a redeemed and valuable organism that needs to be prized and maintained so that you can fulfill your God-given purpose in life.
