DÍA 6 DE 16

New Hope (Resurrection)

As a follower of Christ, we have new hope. This hope is life, but more specifically, life as a new type of human. In the first several pages of the Bible, we read humanity’s rebellion led to a broken world and separation from God, and their existence ends in death. The situation seems hopeless, but immediately following humanity’s rebellion, God makes a promise to send help.

Help came when God’s Son, Jesus, became human, took the consequences for our sin and died separated from God on our behalf. If the story ended here, we would still be without hope, but Jesus did not stay dead. In coming back to life, Jesus showed he did defeat sin and death.

Throughout the gospels, Jesus claimed that if you put your trust in Him, you would receive a lasting life with God. Jesus’ resurrection supported His claim and showed that His act of sacrificial love for humanity was stronger than the curse of death.

As a follower of Christ, Jesus' resurrection is both our present and future hope. In the present, Jesus’ resurrection is a source of life and gives us the power to love other people more than ourselves. It is also a promise of future hope for the whole world. Our existence does not end at death because the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead will bring us back to life as well, and we will be a new type of human, one no longer broken by sin. Let’s look at a Bible passage that talks about this hope.

Question: In what ways does Jesus' resurrection give you hope, both in the present and in the future?
