A Psalm of David.
1Hear my prayer, O Lord:
give ear to my supplications!
In Your faithfulness answer me,
and in Your righteousness. # Ps 31:1; 71:2
2Enter not into judgment with Your servant,
for in Your sight no one living is righteous. # Ecc 7:20
3For the enemy has persecuted my soul;
he has crushed my life to the ground;
he has made me dwell in darkness,
like those who have long been dead. # Ps 88:4–6
4Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; # Ps 77:3; 142:3
my heart within me is distressed.
5I remember the days of old;
I meditate on all Your works; # Ps 77:5–6, 10–12
I muse on the work of Your hands.
6I stretch forth my hands to You; # Job 11:13
my soul thirsts for You like a thirsty land. # Ps 63:1 Selah
7Answer me quickly, O Lord;
my spirit fails!
Hide not Your face from me, # Ps 27:9; 69:17
lest I be like those who go down into the pit. # Ps 28:1
8Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, # Ps 46:5
for in You do I trust;
cause me to know the way wherein I should walk, # Ps 27:11
for I lift up my soul to You.
9Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies;
I flee unto You for refuge.
10Teach me to do Your will,
for You are my God;
Your Spirit is good.
Lead me in the land of uprightness. # Ne 9:20; Ps 25:4–5
11Revive me, O Lord, for Your name’s sake! # Ps 119:25
For Your righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble. # Ps 31:1
12And in Your mercy cut off my enemies, # Ps 54:5
and destroy all those who afflict my soul,
for I am Your servant. # Ps 116:16
