(Be) Blessed: Creating a Covenant Lifestyle With GodMuestra
Our obedience is potent because it unlocks a connection to God that would not otherwise be possible. So far, we have looked at three powerful outcomes of our obedience:
- Establishes a firm foundation
- Creates greater intimacy with God
- Attracts the attention of the Lord
Today, we continue to look at the life of Moses to see how obedience leads to our amazement.
Repeatedly, we see Moses seek closeness with God, and as a result of this God responds in amazing ways. Moses saw the glory of the Lord in a burning bush and again in a cloud on the mountaintop for forty days. He saw God follow the Israelites as a cloud during the day and a pillar of fire at night, rain down manna in the desert to feed them, bring water from a rock to refresh them and part the Red Sea so they could escape the Egyptians.
In the account of the crossing of the Red Sea, the Hebrew phrase “feared the Lord” translates to awe, reverence, and amazement. The people’s response to God’s miraculous intervention to save them from the Egyptians was to build an altar and praise the Lord. Could you imagine being one of the Israelites who had just crossed a sea on dry land? I bet you’d want to document it too! He wants the testimony of our “yes” to increase the faith of those around us.
Moses led a life of obedience that set a firm foundation and deepened his connection with God. Joshua learned from Moses and went from being an assistant devoted to God to the unlikely leader of the Israelites. Their obedience drew the attention of the Lord and resulted in demonstrations of miracles, signs, and wonders they never could have imagined.
God’s character should tell us that we can expect the same outcome of amazement from our obedience.
How does it shift your desire to operate in obedience knowing that it has the power to unlock blessings beyond your expectations?
