The Morning Hunt – Day Fourteen – Do not be a Copycat
Lions do not try to be crocodiles or giraffes; if they did, then they would fail miserably. Everything a lion does, from hunting to courting to sleeping, it does in lion fashion. It makes sense that lions hunt and dominate their environments because that is how God designed them. Lions could not sustain themselves on the leaves of acacia trees. Otherwise, they would starve. They would not hunt well from the water as their speed, power, and agility do not translate well there. When a lion fails to be a lion, the entire environment becomes unbalanced; it is possible for other species to become over-abundant, which damages plant life and increases disease outbreaks.
Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. If He made you an artist, be that. If He made you an entrepreneur, be that. He has made us all servants, but with unique graces so that you can be the best you He created you to be. I am not particularly good at trying to be anyone else, but no one is a better me than me. It took me too many years to learn this lesson, but once God helped me be okay with being me, I felt more effective than ever. Embrace the lion God created you to be today. Your uniqueness brings much-needed balance to a world full of copycats.
Romans 12:1-2 MSG - So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
Psalm 139:13-16 ESV - 13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.[a] Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
1 Cor 12:18-20 -18 But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. 19 If all were a single member, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts,[b] yet one body.
