The Morning Hunt – Day Eleven – Interdependent
Young lions can hunt and effectively care for themselves at only about two years old. This does not mean that they are ready to be completely independent yet, but these young lions are by no means helpless or defenseless. At the age of six months, they are already eating meat and watching the older lions hunt. While these young lions are born with the instinct to hunt, they still need to observe the older lions do it and then practice on smaller prey for themselves.
The early years of a new convert’s journey are crucial. I believe many fires are either started or quenched based on that early experience. God has put the instinct and desire within every one of us to accomplish His Purpose in the Earth. Sometimes, like a water buffalo to a young lion, the task appears insurmountable. Those of us who are older need to teach the younger ones how to be effective collectively and individually. Those of us who are younger must be careful not to get frustrated when we are being cautioned from moving too fast.
Older believers need to be careful not to crush the dreams of those who are new to the faith; we need to let their energy and zeal be a challenge for us to go and do our first works. Let no one despise you for your youth, but to the believers, be an example in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity. As for the older lions, continue strengthening the younger brethren and preparing your successors. We do not only want this Pride to survive, but we also want it to grow; we want it to be healthy, and we want it to thrive.
1 Timothy 4:12 NLT - Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.
Titus 2:1-8 MSG - Your job is to speak out on the things that make for solid doctrine. Guide older men into lives of temperance, dignity, and wisdom, into healthy faith, love, and endurance. Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior. Also, guide the young men to live disciplined lives. But mostly, show them all this by doing it yourself, trustworthy in your teaching, your words solid and sane. Then anyone who is dead set against us, when he finds nothing weird or misguided, might eventually come around.
Revelation 2:3-4 NLT - 3 You have patiently suffered for me without quitting. 4 “But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first!
