Reinventing Your Business: Part I

Let’s discuss what it takes to reinvent an existing organization that is in decline. The word Renew will be an acronym we discuss this week to help you refresh your organization.

The R stands for Request. Reinventing your business takes courage. One of the first steps to attain any goal is to talk to someone who knows a thing or two. You need to request God’s help. Pray and meditate on God’s Word for his plan to be revealed to you. Additionally, consider reaching out to other individuals in your career field for help or advice regarding your specific company needs.

In Nehemiah 1:11 Nehemiah prayed, “O Lord, I beseech You, … make Your servant successful today and grant him compassion before this man.

Nehemiah needed the help of God and of the Persian king to restore the city of Jerusalem. His requests of the Lord and the Persians resulted in their favor and assistance. Nehemiah needed both God’s blessing and the Persians might to rebuild. The task was outside of the abilities of Nehemiah alone.

Likewise, reinventing a business takes the might of the Lord and the assistance of other capable individuals. Your prayer requests may be the starting point for your organization’s renewal, but don’t forget to look around you for help as well.

Questions for Reflection

  • What do you want your company to look like in five years? What do you want to accomplish with your business endeavors? Can you list specific needs to attain your goal? Who can help you or at least point you in the right direction?
  • How often do you pray? Have you involved your colleagues or employees in prayer with you? If you cannot pray at your place of work, who else in your life could you pray with?
